The existing fuel tax isnt used for infrastructure. It goes into the General Fund and pissed away. If you want to feed the swamp, increase fuel taxes.

The fuel tax is no more likely to be misspent than any other tax, from income, to estate to Social Security taxes.
The key is that it is a regressive tax and therefore effects everyone equally.
And, as far as taxes go, that’s as good as it gets.
