A late effort by Democrats and voting rights groups to change legislative districts before candidate filing begins in North Carolina has been rejected by state judges.
A three-judge panel denied a request Monday by the plaintiffs in a long-standing state redistricting case to have several districts in and around Charlotte and Raleigh altered so they are identical to those approved by federal judges in a similar mapping lawsuit.

democrats controlled state houses for over a generation and drew up most of the districts. Now they don’t like them. They can all rot.
Yeah, they never complained about ‘Gerrymandering’ when Reagan won 49 states but they controlled congress ... go figure ...
I don’t think it’ll help the Dems in NC.
The Dems are making progress suing and getting the map redrawn here in PA. They’re claiming “gerrymandering” ... the recently Republicans redrew the map to divide districts more cleanly along county and community lines. That still won’t be good enough for the Dems. They want to gerrymander the districts themselves.
This is going to be interesting ... they seem to want the new map drawn -AND- have it instituted for the election this fall. I’m curious to hear what the excuses might be if they don’t have the new map approved before the primaries. Also, I *think* all candidates must have their paperwork submitted in March ... that might throw a wrench into their plans too.
Yeah, I’m getting sick and tired of the Dems crying gerrymandering when many Dems drew these maps themselves. Of course, if they’re sinking to this level, that has to mean they have problems overall and that things aren’t looking like a “blue wave” this fall.
How can gerrymandering not be constitutional? Elbridge Gerry was at the Constitutional convention!
