On Going Back to Africa

“I have no desire to take all Black people back to Africa.
There are Blacks who are no good here and likewise would be no good there.

Garvey founded the Black Star Line for shipping and passenger travel, promoting the return American blacks to Africa.

The Black Star Line went bankrupt and Garvey was imprisoned for mail fraud in the selling of its stock. His movement then rapidly collapsed.

Strangely, he doesn't get much exposure in Black History Month.

Segregation is okay provided it is instigated by black people and white people somehow feel left out and beg to be included in the “cool” group. Personally I don’t give a flip what color anyone is, only what kind of people they are, I know plenty of black people who are willing to forget color differences and we get along just fine.
