New Baltimore Police Commissioner To Battle Corruption With Random Polygraph, Integrity Tests

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — In his first press conference, new Baltimore police commissioner Darryl De Sousa said he is rearranging the department and one of his first moves will be to crack down on officer misconduct. In a somewhat confusing address to reporters, he explained what the department will look like under his leadership, already changing his mind on one of two deputy commissioner spots to be filled.

He’s in. He’s out. He’s maybe in again. The confusing back-and-forth at Friday morning’s press conference leaves one of the two top spots in the department empty after just 24 hours earlier a chart was distributed to media outlets listing Thomas Cassella as the next Deputy Commissioner of Operations.

LOL! So, Mrs. rktman and I have been watching "The Wire" on amazon and it sure looks like art is imitating life. Series takes place in Baltimore and the corruption in the series and the anti republican sentiments are YUGE. One term mayor(? or half term) calls the Republican Gov a few choice names. We just started season 5 which is the final season. Interesting to say the least. City hall and union corruption on display. As well as the dismal state of the ghettos and the inhabitants. Very sad and I gotta believe a lot of truth to it based onb some experiences with NOLA projects years ago.

good luck with the random polygraphs, Big Fella. I’m sure that’s going to go over well with your officers. He will drive the final stake thru the heart of that department. If you think Baltimore is bad now, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

“The once-elite gun task force consumed by corruption that was prosecuted federally is now the inspiration for a new “integrity division” which will police the police. It will include random integrity tests, along with random polygraph tests and the launching of an overtime abuse unit.”

Probable Cause? Anybody? Bueller?

Why don’t they just disband the police? That resolves the corruption and won’t impact the out of control crime rate.

Ha ha ha ha ha

Integrity tests are nothing new to police departments. They did it where I worked, but when they were targeting someone. And, usually that someone was a cop that the drug dealers complained about. Sometimes they were right. Most times they were not. But, if he tries that polygraph crap, he’ll run every cop off that department, except for the ones that do absolutely nothing.

That city is going to burn.

Interesting that Baltimoreans sneer about comparisons to "The Wire". "That was years ago. It's different now." Right. It's even worse now.

Since Nancy Pelosi's dad was mayor and pillaged the city years ago, it's hopeless. (Though it does help explain why Pelosi is so much in favor of "dreamer" kids keeping the ill-gotten gains resulting from crimes committed by their parents!)

To show this is a good faith policy they should start with Marilyn State’s Attorney for Baltimore, Marilyn Mosby, former mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, the current mayor and the entire Baltimore city government.

After everyone successfully passes the polygraph and integrity tests they can move on to the police department.

Antipolygraph.org has a lot of information about polygraphs.

Many years ago in a restaurant I was working in the new owner did a terribly incompetent inventory. Bear in mind he didn't do this before he bought it. He then decided people were stealing and hired a polygraph guy to come in. I was in college and had just learned about them in Psych 101 so I did more research and wrote a footnoted report on polygraphs. Then I made 50 copies. This was way before popular internet so the footnotes refereed to books and articles.

When the polygraph guy came there was a meeting where he asked for any questions after his scam spiel. I asked "Is it a lie if one deliberately hides the truth?"

He had to think about that, then replied "Yes!"

"Then you're a liar!" I declared while dramatically pointing at him. "You're running a scam where you charge this poor man (now pointing at the owner) for a service you can not provide! I have the proof right here and I brought copies for everyone."

Well, he was shocked and of course immediately opened his mouth to accuse me of being the thief. However, I continued as I passed out copies... "Notice how I documented where it is common practice to accuse anyone who challenges the polygraph as the thief."

The polygrapher forged ahead to say he would tell the police I "wouldn't cooperate" whereupon I related that would be another lie on his part as I would be glad to talk to them about the scam he was running and prefer charges for any illegal harassment. There was then an awkward silence while people read my report and the meeting ended as people wandered off. Few agreed to take the test. Amazingly, I wasn't fired then but a few months later after another incident for "having a big mouth."

Prosecute the police to distract from rising crime, yeah, that’ll work. /s

My advice to current members of the Baltimore PD; find something to trip over and lay there until your lawyer responds, not an ambulance, your lawyer.

Yet let me guess: Marilyn "We are with the rioters and looters" Mosby is still in office and still has her law license.
