WEST HAVEN, Utah -- When Natalie Richard’s sixth-grade daughter told her she couldn’t say “no” if a boy asked her to dance at Kanesville Elementary’s Valentine’s Day dance, she didn’t believe it at first.

“Oh no, no honey," Richard said of her reply. "You guys are misunderstanding again. That’s not how it is."

However, after speaking to her daughter’s teacher, she realized the statement was accurate.

What a bunch of idiots. I bet the principle and teachers are followers of the PoundMeToo Movement.

Why have a dance for 6th graders?

At least the dance is voluntary.

Principal — ask him to dance. He can’t say “no”, right?

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

It’s a trap!!!

Run boys, run!!!

My life was simple until our 8th grade graduation dance.

I slow danced with Joni and she was warm and soft and smelled really good.

Life was never simple after that.

parents weren’t aware of this policy.

I guess the parents have zero experience with social dancing. It's rude to turn the man down, unless he's acting like a psycho (in which case the chaperones can boot him). But no boy gets to pester a girl repeatedly. That's what dance cards are for.

Good manners dictate that at a social dance, neither the boys nor the girls are supposed to cling to one person or the other, but get to know everyone there.

It's not a darn wedding; it's a dance. But parents in the age of "hook-up" may have forgotten that. Social dancing is a sane, casual way to assess grace, looks, manners, and character in members of the opposite sex, because everything is non-committal and out in the open. It requires you to be good company both to those you pine for and those you don't. (You learn a lot about someone by seeing how he handles this.)

Public school - you get what you pay for (which is nothing)...so the parents need to learn to bend over and take it.

For starters, why in the world are they having a dance for 6th graders? Stupid! Oh, yeah, to get them “interested” at an early age. Disgusting!

I don’t think one can find those in use any more.

I won’t dance.
Don’t ask me.

I won’t dance
Can’t make me.

They should take a tip from Frank Sinatra;

Disgusting, how? My first dance was in the 6th grade. It’s the beginning of puberty and a perfect time to start learning how to behave like a civilized grownup in the presence of the opposite sex.
