Four million people dropped off the food stamp rolls in one month, according to the latest numbers on food stamp enrollment from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The latest USDA data show that the number of participants in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the government program that administers food stamps, dropped from 45,666,795 in October 2017 to 41,658,868 in November 2017 a staggering decrease of 4,007,927 over one month.
Even though there was a temporary spike in enrollment, mostly concentrated in a few states that caused the national average of food stamp enrollment to spike, nationwide enrollment in the program as a whole is still on a steady decline.
Enrollment in the program sharply increased by 3.5 million during the first month of fiscal year (FY) 2018 (October 2017) mostly due to heavy increases in temporary SNAP enrollment in hurricane-affected states such as Florida and Texas.
In Florida alone, food stamp participation soared by 2.5 million from September to October due to the state administering Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) benefits to poor residents affected by Hurricane Irma.
The USDAs Food and Nutrition Service approved Floridas request to administer these special D-SNAP benefits beginning September 10, 2017.
A spokesperson for Floridas Department of Children and Families (DCF) the program that administers food stamp benefits in Florida confirmed with Breitbart News that the dramatic increase in SNAP enrollment in the state was due to disaster relief, but that most food stamp recipients were not normal beneficiaries of the food stamp program.

Gee, I wonder why?.................Self-deportation?.............
That
And people finding jobs, raises and bonuses
President Trump is fixing the country, one step at a time
Alternate headline: 4 million people have no food under Trump
Alternate headline: 4 million people have no food under Trump
I believe the author answered her own question in pointing out the dramatic increase in SNAP and D-SNAP due to hurricane relief. Once that was rectified, a precipitous drop should naturally occur.
I know I tongue and cheek say this all the time, but this time it is really really true...
Democrats Outraged!!!!
Imagine how low it would go, if none were going to illegals, adjustments made to “feed the children” who also receive 2-3 “free” meals at school each day, none to those who are scamming the system, etc.
Thanks for a bit of “winning” for this morning!
Amazing things happen when you crack down on fraud.
.............and put some people to work
There were only 31,382,561 recipients in September 2008, just before Obuma’s election.
More work to be done.
Whoa, Whoa, Whoa Baracky’s cryin’
Trump’s fault. :P
That is still about 41 Million too many
Great news. We’ll never balance the budget until we significantly reduce that $1 trillion spent annually on means tested poverty programs. And I’ve heard them talking about welfare to work lately, which is sorely needed to give a push to those who don’t voluntarily seek employment as more and more jobs are created in the booming eonomy.
Needs more emotional appeal.
Trumps take food out of the mouths of 4 million hungry children.
Thanks, FR and Breitbart for posting this, since I haven’t (and likely won’t) see it anywhere else.
I expect the MSM will be TRUMPeting this glorious news all across the nation this evening.....................Of course I expect it to snow here in Florida first...............
Sounds like they just rearranged the Deck Chairs.
“That, and people finding jobs.” And illegals dropping out trying to avoid being deported.
