Our republic officially died upon the passage of the 17th Amendment. Equal suffrage of the states in the Senate was denied by the 17th Amendment. The states no longer had representation since the 17th allowed for popular vote of US Senators. The house and Senate became one.
The 17th Amendment must be repealed in order to restore our republic.

You are spot on. I was hoping that someone had already mentioned that and was going to so if no one else had. Just one more of the ruinous ideas to come out of the Wilson administration. It’s sad that a hundred years later, no one alive remembers why it was a part of the founding document or why it was changed (a hint: Progressives).
