Perhaps we should just stick to the definitions used by the Framers of the Constitution when we try to add or detract from programs to "help" citizens which might violate that Constitution's protections and limitations:
"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." - Preamble = Constitution of the United States of America"Promoting," and "provid[ing] for" come with vastly different meanings, and the difference in meanings comes with vastly different consequences!
The government has no constitutional authority to legislate on this.

Rubio doesn’t have to work on his own party - all of his democrats support this sort of big government mandate. It’s the republicans that he has to work on, and I am praying that he will fail. Paid family leave is good . . . when it is a free choice made voluntarily by the employer.
Socialists want all adults in the workplace paying taxes and kids in government-run daycare being indoctrinated. The more they impose regulations on business and taxes on families, the less people are able to afford having a parent at home with the children. Why should people getting by on one income so mom can be at home with the kids be penalized by paying higher taxes or having their company forced to bear the burden of more government regulations?
