I count that as a description of one who has a non-saving penitence, willing to do a priest-assigned regimen of confession and penance yet not be delivered. May even be sliding through unregenerated, but professing and ostensibly appearing as a belief-practitioner. And that is why I dislike the ambiguosity of words like "penitent" or "penitence," preferring instead terms that clearly define the condition of faith that proclaims a complete readiness, having counted the cost, for a complete irreversible 180o change of direction, that God--exercising His attribute of foreknowledge--can see that the person means business, and then does the saving which lasts unto eternity, making the person acceptable in the Beloved Christ (Eph. 1:6). Then, going forward, this is the time of works of repentance (Acts 16:20f). That is why i asked my question, "what would you describe the character of slaving faith, that which is out of a poor and contrite reverent heart, which is what God regards?"
Sometimes we can de,man too much precision, and must look at the spirit of what is said.

Sometimes we can de,man too much precision, and must look at the spirit of what is said. And at other times, not precise enough, when the Holy Spirit may not be clarifying the ambiguousness to the Romanist-bent mind, and the intended meaning is lost, confused by an unintended meaning presumed.
That is why I prefer reading commentators whose writings may be lengthy and boring, but the fine and often determinative points of doctrine made clear. Which method you also generally follow, in your work on the "PeacebyJesus" site, eh?
Carry on, Bro.

>>>You mean where pseudo Christians wrongly agree with atheists on gay “marriage.”<<<
Yes that very one. But I’m starting to suspect those who ID as “non denominational” are actually atheist posers. I ask what their church statement of faith says on these moral issues and I never get an answer. Will have to check Barna to see if they have an “unchurched” survey.

You would be an interesting addition over at Christian Forums. They have all the Mormons in a separate area with other world religions. Plus your pluckey attitude would be interesting on the atheist threads.
Come on over the water is warm.

And perhaps management there really does allow these antagonists to brake rules in order to get the page count up and thus more ad$.

It is ludicrous to say that the Sabbath is just a ceremonial law. It is so holy that outright defiance of it’s observance incurs the death penalty. You have not and cannot answer the very words of the Master in Matt. 5. Yeshua never broke any Torah commandments. Never. There is no mitzvah in the Torah commanding washing hands before eating. You have much to learn.

You need to go back and re-read what I actually said instead of presuming what you think I said.

Sodomy isn't wrong just because scripture says so.
Scripture says so because sodomy is wrong.
Not difficult to find New Testament quotes to that effect.

I don’t trust Keller in the least. He has shown definite softening, and is on record as promoting white guilt.
I have a gift of discernment, and he is definitely on my radar.

Except for working on Shabbat, I believe. I don’t know what work on Shabbat Jesus performed.
