Gay sex, cohabitation, and sex outside marriage would become illegal and punishable with prison terms under proposals from Islamic parties that could soon become law in the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation.

Critics say the moves, which are being negotiated among Indonesia’s political parties and government legislative drafters, would, if enacted, be a major blow to democracy in this Southeast Asian nation of 250 million.

In Dubai,perhaps the most "liberal" major city in the Arab world,they have hotel maids who are paid by the police to report unmarried *normal* couples who are rooming together.Once reported they're immediately deported...if they're lucky.

Some are prosecuted.IIRC the *abnormal* ones are *always* prosecuted.

That has nothing to do with "democracy". Heck England outlawed homosexual behavior until 1968, and famously enforced it not much earlier (Oscar Wilde, for instance). The states that has anti-sodomy laws were affirmed in the late '80s by the Supreme Court (Bowers v. Hardwick), until the settled law was over tuened (including Sandra Day O'Connor, who voted with the majority both times!). Many states had laws (Connecticut into the '80s) against adultery and/or fornication.

We didn't need the era of Griswold/Roe/Bill Clinton to make this country a Democracy.

Islam is based on a lie. It's Sharia is an anachronism, best suited to control people still in barbarism. Laws against unnatural acts and against the undermining of true marriage are not a crime against God or democracy.

The supreme irony will be when Islamic immigration finally causes these ideas to gain large followings in the US and then the Dems will start advocating jailing gay people again. Don’t think it won’t happen. The Dems are for anything that will keep them in power no matter how totalitarian and thuggish it is - Segregation, Jim Crow laws, the KKK, Black Lives Matter. Gays are stupid to think that they are part of the Dem coalition. They are a small minority that will be overwhelmed by Islam once it takes root here. Then its bye-bye gays.
