Jayson Werth was 'inspired' after attending Trump's State of the Union as a farmer

Former Washington Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth is one of the few free agents who isn’t worried about being unsigned right now. If things don’t work out in baseball, he can just focus on farming.

No, for real. Werth is so serious about his organic farm that he was the guest of Illinois Congressman Rodney Davis at President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address Tuesday night.

There’s a lot to unpack there. Yes, Jayson Werth is apparently somewhat interested in politics. Yes, he’s passionate about organic farming. Yes, he was even willing to wear a suit and tie and put his hair up in a bun in order to attend the State of the Union.

So, what was his verdict of the event?

Jayson Werth #SOTU reaction: "I was really inspired."

True story: I ran on a track team with Jayson’s mother, when I was a child/teen.

He was a fun player to watch. Pleasantly surprised. I’m conditioned to famous people I like coming out on the other side and ruining it for me.

I saw this on twitter last night. I’m a huge Nats fan and like Werth a lot. I cringed when I saw he was there and had something to say. Thought he was going to say something to make me regret liking him. I was very pleasantly surprised to hear what he said...especially given some of his post game interviews.

What a hayseed. He can’t compete with corporate farming and is probably polluting streams with runoff from his land. He needs to move to the city and take a tech or service industry job.

Interesting, because Rodney is a Central Illinois RINO.

Hmm.
