I'd say 80% of their customers are young leftists. They'll be pleased. What type of people would be comfortable using a room in someone's home? The other 20% will overlook this to get great deals. A lot (maybe most?) of their business is outside the US, so those people won't care and maybe like it.

So this probably won't hurt them, although it's likely not a strategic move, but who they are. It may even help them to avoid getting shut down in large liberal cities.

Well, they just committed a cardinal business sin - gratuitously pissing off about 1/2 of their potential customer base. That is a REALLY. STUPID. MOVE.
