Yeah. I'm not much for hype but I honestly can't think of anything remotely approaching this one. Teapot Dome? Peanuts. Watergate? Nixon got canned for trying to cover up a failed attempt to do a fraction of a percent of this. Unlike Nixon's Plumbers', this attempt succeeded, at least until it was found out. And the stakes were far higher.
There is another aspect to the scandalous nature of this thing, and it is the behavior of the media. Actively attempting to minimize, to temporize, to excuse, and to deny the plain facts at this point is a failure of mission quite as massive as the FBI's.
