This flu season will not peak until the middle of March. Wife and I had it and got through it. But just because you’ve had one strain doesn’t mean you won’t get another strain.
A friend of mine, age 54, died last week of the flu. I know it is deadly.
90% of the deaths claimed to be caused by flu had other medical conditions involved. It’s a total fallacy to blame the flue for all the deaths that they claim are caused by the flue. The flu vaccine is known to be only about 30% effective. The vaccine is pushed to support the pharmaceuticals.
Locally, the flu seems to be waning. Before Jan 1, my wife, who works at a stand alone emergency room, said they were seeing up to 10 flu patients a day. Now, it is down to about 1. She attributes it to the bad weather where people stayed home.
FWIW this is the Centennial of the great Spanish Influenza of 1918.

We had BOTH strains PLUS strep at the same time at my house two weeks ago. We got a shot of antibiotics for the strep and took 50K IU of d3 when we got home. We took 10K IU at bedtime and 10K IU again the next morning. Within 36hrs fever and aches were gone. Well, except for where we got the antibiotic shot :P

Yeah, maybe. But the Emergency Department I spent all evening in/around had very few admissions for anything and the waiting room typically had only 1-2 people sitting there (southeastern WA).

This type of article is ridiculous. Nearly every single day one of the main headlines is how bad this flu outbreak has been and that it is one of the worst in many years, etc. and this article acts like this fact is being “downplayed.” Really? It being widely reported on a daily basis as one of the deadliest and widespread outbreaks in recent years is “downplaying” it?
Anyone dying of the flu is almost certainly deficient in vitamin d. Some say vitamin d deficiency is an actual CAUSE of the flu.
One must enter flu season with blood levels of at least 60. 70-90 if you are Immune deficient or fighting other illnesses.
To get there, you should get a blood test and add supplemental d3 daily until you reach that level. To save $ and time on testing and such, right now start taking a solid decent brand at a health food store (not cvs or some other cheap source) of at least 5000 IU of vitamin D3 daily. You might still be exposed and you might even still get the flu. But your risk of a bad, deadly case just dropped nearly to zero once you’ve gotten enough D3 into your system. It’s cumulative and could take a few weeks.

Oh, and by the way, here is how to supplement d in tiny, even newborn babies. Place one drop of baby vitamin D3 at 1000 IU/drop (at any good health food store or amazon) on the nipple (of mom or a bottle) and baby will ingest. Do this once a day if baby is healthy. If baby is teething or under the weather, do this twice a day to get 2000 IU into him. There is no excuse for grandma or new baby to be vitamin D3 deficient.
I understand the Government is only reporting deaths for people under 65. They assume there will be plenty of over 65 deaths just because of age and health issues. Seems that alone would downplay the panic factor.
My understanding is that it’s causing a severe cough which results in bronchial bleeding resulting is sepsis occurring.
