Somebody should give them a rundown on Prohibition. It failed almost 100 years ago and it would fail today. Anyone can go to the internet these days and find recipes for making alcohol.

Prohibitionists never go away, they just change targets for a while. It's a mindset. It's antithetical to freedom, but it's persistent.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” ― C.S. Lewis

There was no internet in the 1920s, but people could go to the public library and find books which explained how to make alcohol.

My grandfather made wine in his basement during Prohibition. He didn't learn how from the internet.
