Federal law enforcement officials had notified congressional committees that a technical glitch affected thousands of FBI cellphones between Dec. 14, 2016 and May 17, 2017...Hannity said sources at the DOJ told him they have begun to recover some of the texts from that time period. Specific content from those texts has not been released.

I think the chief product we will get out of this in the end...is that a couple of FBI folks are spending four hours a day(while at work) texting their girlfriends. We probably need to let those folks go because they are unproductive.

The messages were never missing. There was no failure against copies being made. If no one has intentionally deleted any messages, every one of those messages is available to be copied for evidence. No fancy forensics necessary. An office like the FBI must facilitate such oversight in computer and network administration.

It’s possible that someone refused to make some log files go away.
