Many years ago I spent a week in the South Korean Navy as an Instructor/Observer when we sold them one of our Ships.
Those folks did not need an Instructor on how to Operate anything. They were training and working out every waking minute and absolutely despised North Korea, just looking for a fight.
Today it is even better, South Korea is Well Fed, Well Armed, Right and Motivated.
I learned to Truly Love South Korea in that one week, best Sailors, Motivated and Very good. Super friendly and when work was done and we got back to Port, they took me to their homes to meet the Families and it was Great, I have never been back but I sure want to ... that was 1975 or 76 so I am thinking things have really changed since then but I still want to go back. I have been hooked on Kimchee and I make my own (Secret is skip the Oriental Peppers and just use Sirachi Sauce) or buy it from the local Mart if you want the original fermented (Good Stuff).
I had a Korean engineer once, best engineer I ever had.(I was surprised that he was a Southern Baptist)
