President Donald Trump is tweeting about missing text messages involving an FBI agent reassigned from special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation. But he's overstating the number of missing texts.
Trump on Tuesday called news the FBI was missing five months' worth of texts from the agent, Peter Strzok, "one of the biggest stories in a long time." Strzok was removed from Mueller's team following the discovery of anti-Trump text messages exchanged with an FBI lawyer.
Trump suggested incorrectly the number of missing messages was "perhaps 50,000." The Justice Department says that's the overall number of messages found on FBI servers.

Guess ABC saw Hannity’s show last night that neither they, nor NBC nor CBS had had a word about the crucial five months of missing emails by the FBI lovebirds. So they have now had a brief story…criticizing the President, naturally!
Apparently, it’s all Trump’s fault. Love seeing the squirming.
It doesn’t matter how many texts are “missing.”
One text about assassination could send multiple deep-staters to the gallows.
Yawn. What about the fact that ANY are missing? Or that they sent so many while at work? Or the content?
50,000 messages or 10 messages. Doesn’t matter......

ABC viewers: “Missing FBI emails? How can the FBI lose emails? And somebody was removed from the Mueller investigation? What’s this all about?”
He said “perhaps.” So, perhaps not.
And Nixon had to resign for just 18 minutes, 18 MINUTES, of missing tape recordings.

If the messages are missing, how do they know how many there are?
