A Georgia State University soccer player who was suspended from the team after she used a racial epithet on social media has withdrawn from the school, officials said.
Some students had called for the expulsion of 18-year-old freshman defender Natalia Martinez after the epithet appeared on her Finsta page, a secret version of Instagram that is growing in popularity among teens.
As a progressive, diverse university, we ... feel like this sort of behavior should not be tolerated, said India Bridgeforth, who created a petition demanding the university take a tougher approach with Martinez.
The petition had garnered more than 500 signatures by Monday afternoon, when the university announced Martinez had officially withdrawn.

“As a progressive, diverse university, we are determined to censor unacceptable speech and punish the speaker.”
So much for “free speech”...
Being suspended for off-campus activity
would be like getting banned from FR for
something posted at another forum. Could
that happen? I’m not prepared to find out.
They obviously lack an Irony Department.
I read the article. What is she reported to have said?
I went to GSU for a while. During a political science class, I said something about Nixon, who was in office at the time, that got the prof all afroth. It wasn’t derogatory, which upset the narrative.
It was Haley Barbour?
There was a thread last week about some idiot New Jersey girl at Alabama who essentially did the same thing. Used the N-word over and over.
She too had "officially withdrawn". Heh, heh. I wonder just how much "arm twisting" the schools use to get them to withdraw?
Well, certain authors seem to be prohibited despite themselves never having posted here.
Twitter recently implemented site rules last month that allows them to ban you for "off-site" things. So if you're a "racist," or whatever, who posts not-allowed-by-Twitter stuff on other sites, they can now ban you, even if your own Twitter account is clean.
I’m so sick of the double standard when it comes to that word. If I were the AD at that school I would start suspending black athletes for using the word too, but then it would mean decimating all the sports programs!
“As a progressive, diverse university, we ....”
Ah, marked G State as an academic joke.
After all, that statement - when translated - means 1) we have no standards, and 2) we don’t even keep those.
So, what did she say?
See #10
She exercised her free speech and then she exercised her right to withdraw from the school.
you could have simply cut and pasted it into the body, why dint you???
What she said wasn’t included in the article — post 10 links to the petition which has it. She used the “n word”.
Because I prefer to annoy nitpicking idiots like yourself.
