Never heard of him until today.
Rush provided the background story
and had many kind words to say about him.

I vividly remember the first time I heard Rush.

I was parked in Richmond, VA waiting to make a delivery.
Something about the area really screwed up the radio reception. The only station I could get was an AM station.

I heard the opening of the song Born Free from the lion movies.
About thirty seconds into the song I heard a gun blast, then another and it ended up sounding like a lively skirmish.

It seems someone in New Zealand (?) had imported some rabbits to begin a market for rabbit meat.
Problem was the Kiwis weren’t buying and the farm went out of business.
Instead of eating the things themselves the owners turned them loose and the rabbits made thousands of little rabbits who made more thousands of rabbits.

The government there declared the now wild rabbits a pest and offered a bounty for every dead rabbit brought in.

PETA was having a conniption over it and raised hell.
The song and the gunshot sounds were Rush’s way of trolling PETA.

So thank you Mr McLaughlin for Rush Limbaugh and the now flourishing daytime talk radio.

I used to listen to Rush when he was KFBK in Sacratomato(thats a local nick name because Yolo County next to Sacramento grows oodles of Tomatoes) and was glad he got the national gig it was amazing series of circumstances for sure. Tom Sullivan a stock market guy was also on KFBK and used to sub for Rush years ago,
We were all a lot younger then.
