So was the Nixon Library. A concert there I got an invite to was cancelled due to it.

You got to wonder why locals don't step up to the plate and take over in cases like this. We had the state run historical site Bushy Run Battlefield which was going to close due to lack of state funding.

The local historical society and friends of the battlefield put together a grant to hire a coordinator (the only paid position) and keep the battlefield and museum open with volunteers. It did such a great job that six park rangers became no longer necessary and had to be transferred elsewhere.

There are a lot of retired people here in Pennsylvania interested in more than playing golf and bingo. And a lot of college students interested in getting meaningful, even if unpaid, internships. Exactly the combo you need to keep places like this open.
