Talks between Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and congressional Republican leaders have broken down, raising anxieties among lawmakers on both sides of the aisle about finding a way to end the government shutdown.
Schumer had not spoken to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) or Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) as of 8 p.m. Saturday evening, the shutdown’s first day.
Neither side showed any signs of backing down when the Senate adjourned Saturday evening without a deal in sight.
While both sides are furiously playing the blame game, McConnell thinks he has the upper hand and plans to raise pressure on Democrats by forcing votes on resolutions to reopen the government.
He has introduced a three-week stopgap measure funding the government until Feb. 8, a week shorter than the House-passed spending bill that failed Friday evening.
“Fewer than half of Democrats say that dealing with DACA is more urgent than keeping the government open,” McConnell said in a floor speech, pointing to a recent CNN survey about the shutdown and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which President Trump ended last year. The program shields certain immigrants who came to the U.S. illegally as children from deportation.

I know right? Does POTUS seem like a man who gets nervous over anything?
How many times in DJTs career has he had to cut costs by 15% while improving service ? 2 Dozen or so times.
DJT can easily cut the cost of the Federal Gov’t by 15% and run cash flow positive during a shutdown. Heck, the longer the shutdown lasts, the better for DJT because he’ll prove that balancing the budget is doable.
Positive Cash Flow is a wonderful thing

Schumer has always been and will always be a huge not only the New York Jewish community, but to embarrassment of United States Senate
Yuh know, I just a delicious steak, freakin rare, cuz any caveman can overcook beef.

The waiter was great.

He didn’t known a lot but, was enthusiastic and it made dinner even better.
His team mates really looked out for him as well and ensured his tables were served well and attended.
I hadn’t even noticed the givernment shut down.

Whaddyu bet he takes a look at the efficiencies of the current situation and decides we really don’t need the tards that were temporarily laid off, saving us even more moolah?
Blame game? The minority party is holding the government hostage while demanding legislation they couldn’t pass when they were in the majority while offering republicans absolutely nothing in exchange.
There is only 1 person to blame here, Chuckie Schumer.
Schumer is a nervous wreck.
He failed.
I don’t know about your nerves, but my nerves are fine.
