No one at CNN or MSNBC ever won the Silver Sow Award!
WBT
I looked up Radioland and found that used WBN.
“LONDON! MADRID! BANGKOK! MOSCOW! CINCINNATI!”
My other favorite Nessman moment was “Chay Chay Rodrigueeze!”
Thanks. That was a great movie.
Larry Carlton is/was one of the GREAT guitarists of our time - played on so many great songs incl many Steely Dan tracks.
In fact, their “Royal Scam” album is affectionately known as their “Guitar Album” due to LC arranging and playing lead on most of the tracks including the GREAT, “Don’t Take Me Alive”

I woke up this morning thinking about the theme song to WKRP, particularly the line “... maybe you and me were never meant to be.”
...
Interesting. The premise of the Mary Tyler Moore show was that she went to MN to start a new life after a breakup and worked at a TV station. WKRP was done by her production company. So there is that slight premise connection between the two shows.
I heard that WKRP was based on WBT in Charlotte. WBT has been on the air since 1922 and is one of the blowtorches of the South at 50,000 watts.
...
Wiki says it was based on experiences at a station in Atlanta where Wilson worked.
As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly. Best episode ever.
Followed by “the phone cops” episode and the episode where Mr. Carlson takes over the receptionist duties so Jennifer and Bailey could go shopping.
Yeah “Don’t Take Me Alive” is positively stunning as are “Kid Charlemagne” and some of the tracks on the “Gaucho” album. Some of the best music ever recorded. I always liked “Hill Street Blues” too.
“Further, the Hog reports were straight off the wire and not Fake News”
I never knew that.
Nice little bit of trivia.
“As God as my witnesss, I thought turkeys could fly!”
Bailey Quarters was the shizznitz!
Jan Smithers played the part superbly.
She was hired for the job because she actually was shy.
That show gave us the Bailey or Jennifer question to add to the Mary Ann or Ginger question.
I’m a Mary Ann and Bailey guy.
I checked out WKRP on Wikipedia.
Hugh Wilson worked at WQXI in Atlanta and many of the stories for WKRP came from his time there.
Including the Turkey episode.
What were they up to in Atlanta?
Bailey was hotter.
The glasses.
Man, all this talk and no pictures ... FR must be going to the hounds.
(as I don’t post one either)
But yeah, Bailey was the hot stuff.
Loni was high maintenance and off-limits.
Bailey was blue jeans and the glasses.
I thought his best line was, “Oh by the way, Jennifer’s bed isn’t round - it’s rectangular like everyone else’s.”
