President Trump is set to address the March for Life, an anti-abortion rights gathering in Washington, D.C., on Friday via satellite, the White House said.
Trump will become the first sitting president to address the rally via a live video. The stream is set to take place from the Rose Garden, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on Wednesday. "The president is committed to protecting the life of the unborn and he is excited to be part of this historic event," she said.
"Since his first day in office, President Trump has remained steadfast on his campaign promises to the pro-life cause and has actively worked to protect the unborn," said March for Life President Jeanne Mancini said in a statement.
"Over the past year, the Trump administration has significantly advanced pro-life policy, and it is with great confidence that, under his leadership, we expect to see other pro-life achievements in the years to come."
Vice President Pence in 2017 became the first sitting vice president to address the event since its founding in 1974. Other sitting presidents have addressed the event via telephone, including Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush.
Event organizers announced earlier this month that Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) will address this year's March for Life.
Reps. Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-Wash.), Daniel Lipinski (D-Ill.) and Chris Smith (R-N.J.) are also scheduled to speak at the event.

I see what they did there.
I for one would prefer he show up in person. Hope he’s not scared of Ophra.
First President to do it. Good for him! I remember when I was debating whether or not to vote for him or Cruz in the primaries, I was only considering Cruz because I was worried Trump might not be pro-life. I decided I trusted Trump on the issue and voted for him, and he has not let me down.
Where will he be for the satellite appearance ?
Maybe we will be surprised when he shows in person !!

President Donald Trump Will Address March for Life, 1st President to Speak Via Live Video Feed

President Donald Trump will address the March for Life on Friday in live remarks to hundreds of thousands of pro-life people attending the event from across the country. Trump is keeping a tradition alive that’s seen previous presidents taking a pro-life position making similar phone calls to encourage pro-life advocates to continue fighting against abortion.
President Trump will become the first president to speak to the March for Life via a live video feed. Presidents Ronald Reagan, George Bush, and George W Bush all addressed the March for Life as well with pro-life remarks. There remarks were typically pre-taped or they were aired via a live phone call to March for Life participants. With better technology available today, a live video stream is more easily accomplished.
President Trump was supposed to send remarks to the March for Life last year but did not do so because Vice President Mike Pence and Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway were slated to speak at the event to represent the White House.
Last year Trump called out the mainstream media for essentially ignoring the March for Life.

Wednesday night was a major first for Donald Trump as ABC aired his very first interview as the president of the United States. The interview questions ranged from immigration policy to what carpet he chose for the Oval Office (Ronald Reagan’s), but things got awkward for interviewer David Muir when he tried to stick Trump with questions about the Women’s March on Saturday, “Let me just ask you while we’re standing outside, could you hear the voices from the Women’s March here in Washington.”
“No, I couldn’t hear them. The crowds were large, but you will have a large crowd on Friday, too, which is mostly pro-life people,” Trump informed Muir before hammering him for the media’s long history of blatantly ignoring the annual March for Life in Washington, DC:
You’re going to have a lot of people coming on Friday. And I will say this, and I didn’t realize this. But I was told. You will have a very large crowd of people. I don’t know as large or larger. Some people said it will be larger. Pro-life people and they say the press doesn’t cover them.
Muir was caught completely off guard and was left stuttering by the turn of events. “I don’t want to compare crowd sizes again. I – I—I,” he said, trying to scramble away from the issue of liberal media bias against conservatives.
But Trump wouldn’t let it go and pressed Muir further, “No, you should—But let me just tell you. What you do say is that the press doesn’t cover them.” That was followed by a hard cut to another camera angle, which was strange since the original shot was keeping pace with the pair as they walked down the colonnade towards the West Wing.
“You know, the press never gives them the credit that they deserve. They’ll have three hundred, four hundred, five hundred, six hundred thousand people, you won’t even read about it,” he said.

I too supported Trump in the primaries based on a leap of faith that he would stay true to the Right to Life.
Thanks. We had to move to Maryland from the Midwest for a job a few years ago. The opportunity to occasionally take part in events like March for Life is one of the few things we actually like about the East Coast.
We also joined the Home School legal Defense Association CAP program. We’ve been called on a couple times to lobby our congressional offices on behalf of home school families.
It’s kind of fun to see how well or how poorly we’re treated by congressional staff once we identify who we’re with. The worst was my own Senator’s office.
