I challenge this. It does NOT power economic growth; it stifles it by creating capital-sapping dependencies and lowering the overall standard of living for everyone. And while it may connect diverse societies, I have yet to see any demonstrable value in that, other than the time-worn cliches spouted by the globalist Left.
