I saw The Greatest Showman, enjoyed it, but it was just mediocre. As a Star Wars fan, I won’t see the new SW movie, but I hear it’s awful.

As a Star Wars fan, I won’t see the new SW movie, but I hear it’s awful.

I took a certain Miss J to dinner and to the movie Dunkirk on a first date who was, let's just say, not very well versed in either History nor Geography. Several times during he showing she asked "Now where's Dunkirk again?" and "So, it's not the name of the guy?" despite having already explained to her the location and significance prior to the movie.

She enquired about the "Heinkel" the crew had pointed out , but she kept insisting it simply must be a type of boat, followed with, "Why are the Germans trying to get away in a boats, are they stranded too?"

The concept of multiple POV storytelling seemed to elude her. "OMG, another 'Spritefire' [sic] is splashing down. Wait, I thought that boat sank already."

After it was over she remarked. "Wow, that was like Star Wars."

"Touché, Miss J., you've got me there." I thought to myself. "Star Wars for grownups." I offered.

"But set in World War One!" She perked, basking the the proud light of her insight.

We completed the evening with a cocktail and went our separate ways, but I don't envision asking her to a second date. It's true what they say about blonds.

I've since purchased the DVD, so as to now enjoy "Star Wars for grownups" in peace and quiet.
