So true. That is my plan. Hell, retire, get a job. Don’t like it? Quit and go back to finishing my reading list. Don’t know about Walmart. Just not a customer service sort of person.
Get a grip. Just because you don’t know anyone who would work for $11 an hour doesn’t mean there aren’t people in the real world who will work for it.
You sound an awful lot like the liberal who stated “I don’t know anyone who voted for “W”. How could he win.”
When I was forced to retire and was “blackballed” from Intel for being an old while male after 34 years of loyal service, Walmart hired my wife. She had no current work experience. She worked hard and was made full time. We now have health insurance because of evil WALMART. She now has current work experience which is an opportunity to move up to a better job. We are bridging the gap to medicare with her job. We are thankful for that and we are not taking any government assistance.
I once thought like you did about the low wages. Then my enchanted life was turned upside down. Lost a great paying job. Got “blackballed”. Found it is near impossible for an old white guy to get a job in my field (Mask Design). Reality slapped me up side the head. We chose our path as a couple. Now have low wages and health insurance. We are not eating up our savings. We pay our bills with that low wage because we have been responsible by having no debt and preparing for retirement.
Everyone has a different situation in their life. And we all must do what we must do to get by. Sometimes that lowly job you sneer at is just what someone else needs to make ends meet and a live a happy and healthy life.
I am grateful to have that low wage job, have insurance and be retired. Although you really don’t know me, you now know someone who would work for that low wage and why.
