>> “ I simply said as special prosecutor investigating the President, there is precedent to force the President to testify, or plead the 5th.” <<

That is utter nonsense from beginning to end!

No prosecutor can “investigate the President.”

Only a congressional committee can investigate the President, and they have no power to demand his presence nor testimony. (separation of powers)

Comey was fired for being corrupt, and going easy on Hillary. Trump may bring that up to the press, but no way is he going to officially claim he wants that same biased treatment. Get real. And Trump may hold all the wild cards and this may completely blow over. But a special counsel investigating the President is the singular most dangerous legal threat to a sitting President. And any claims that Mueller or the FBI is corrupt don’t mean jack until a few of them start getting arrested.

The Mueller threat can be neutralized politically.

Trump can publicly demand that any interview is the exact equivalent of Hillary’s to include his right to retain and destroy all computers and phones.
He can be accompanied by any other people targeted in the probe.
He is not sworn in.
No recordings except those HE makes.
The list goes on.

And of course, he gets a letter of exoneration -in advance-.

Also, he can easily look at Muellers team that is deeply compromised and composed of those who were spying on him and announce he will not be interviewed by any of the conspirators. He can and will demand that Mueller demonstrate solid evidence of collusion and that he explain what law “collusion” would violate.

Sekulow is going to slice an dice this Mueller scam.

Politically, the open corruption of the FBI senior leaders who have been the engine of the investigation is what makes it possible for Trump to not grant an interview.

Star was an actual prosecutor under the old law. (still dubious) After Clinton, that law was changed and Mueller does not have his powers.

All Trump needs is backing of the GOP congress and he can ignore Mueller’s request. That has been growing in the recent weeks as GOP leaders are turning on the FBI, the Mueller team, and calling for it to be terminated. Bannon was flushed which also made the GOP happy. Tax cuts made them happy.
The politics are on Trumps side and the coup is on the run. Next the IG report will come in.

Not testifying will show their weakness and fatally wound the Mueller team.

You’re moving the goalposts, which is fine, as it means I’ve scored my points. As I’ve said all along, if Mueller caves, it will be because his own foundation is weak, and Trump is eyeing it for counter attack. It won’t be because he doesn’t have legal standing, and precedent, to aggressively pursue the President as special counsel, and force his testimony. Out.

Sessions is busy representing the Big Pharma corporate donors, by shutting down their marijuana competition. He is reestablishing the money monopoly while acting all moral about his scam.

Southern gentleman NOT!

Trump’s lawyer merely asks Mueller to provide the authority for the interview. There is none.

8 years later, still waiting ...

If Trump were to do that, he’d be no better than Hitlary!

And yet that’s not his mandate. (Mueller's) mandate was investigating Russia Collusion, not the president.

Mueller seems to be on the black hat side, but sometimes I wonder if he's there to keep all the lefty lawyer's under his watch doing busy work, tilting at windmills (keeping the Russia distraction alive), thereby making them unable to work for their usual circle of criminal Demonicrat politicians.

High paid counsel Alan Dershowitz has been keeping a close eye on developments.

Trump's getting free legal advice.

Dershowitz said "no client of mine would ever be permitted to be interviewed by a special prosecutor."

Mueller will request an interview, Trump will say no, and Mueller will immediately charge Trump with obstruction of justice.
