Rep. Darrell Issa announced Wednesday he will not seek another term, adding his name to a growing list of GOP retirements that has some analysts speculating a Democratic wave is coming.

Issa, a Republican representing the San Diego area, was expected to be among the most endangered GOP lawmakers in 2018.

I think a lot of Repuiblicans in he House expect a GOP slaughter in the Fall.

I hope they’re wrong. They’ve been reliably wrong for all of my adult life...

Actually, he has enough money to enjoy life, without the hassle of commuting to DC and put up with democrats.

So not sad for Issa, but sad for republicans.

Based on what I’ve seen here on FR, it looks like this guy’s been getting increasingly erratic over time as his district became more heavily Democrat.

So, how many GOP seats are being vacated so far?

If the GOP loses the House, we all know what Pelosi’s Job 1will be, right?

Almost looks like they want to lose on purpose for some reason I can’t possibly figure out no matter how hard I try...

I estimate 25 House seats so far. Some (Chaffetz, Barton, etc.) should be held by the GOP.

Overall, I can’t see a compelling reason for a Rat wave (”It’s the economy, stupid”). Just a few losses, as expected for midterms based on history.

If the Admin can get a handle on all the voter fraud, I am confident the Pubbies will hold the House. I think maybe even get a few more in the Senate. But only if they can STOP THE VOTER FRAUD.

at least two dozen in the House, and a few in the Senate.

Many are safe seats, and a lot of committee chairmen who are getting term limited out of those chairs just figure there’s no point in going back to being powerless, all the more so if we lose the house and the Dems run ALL the committees

They don't really want to govern. They want to be the "opposition." They want to be able to say "we want to do all these wonderful things, but too bad, we are in the minority and the mean old democrats stop us." In reality, they are fine with the democrat agenda. Their "opposition" is insincere.

In other words, the GOP is the Washington Generals. They are playing the role of designated loser in a political clown show. And that's what they want to be.

And I suspect you knew that all along.

Many individuals in congress are extremely wealthy. Now that there is a President in office that works rings around them, many are jumping ship! Also, many have skeletons in their closets from Obama’s spying.

Oh yes, yes I did. The GOP is a false party.

The Uniparty operates a show that is very similar to WWE professional wrestling.

Hope they will be replaced by younger blood who are more conservative.

Just read that he’s worth around a quarter of a billion dollars (earned legitimately as a car-theft equipment company owner). Here are the wealthiest members of congress:

A friend of mine said he had heard that something like 2 or 3 dozen Republicans are now planning to NOT run.
