The “assimilate” prong is nearly impossible to manage. That means long term oversight of each illegal sumbitch. They must go to the back of the line.

Letting kids who grew up here stay is a fair exchange.

The trouble is, if these kids are allowed to stay, their parents and older siblings will be allowed to stay too, because advocates of amnesty in both parties will use the ruse about "not wanting to break up families." So in addition to the 600-700K Dreamer anchor babies, we'll be saddled with another 1.2-1.5 million of their relatives.

You people are as bad as the RATS.

Apparently, you seem to be the one whose position on DACA is the same as the "RATS."

I'd just as soon see every one removed from the country. Kids of bank robbers don't get to keep the loot. However I would considering accepting that IF they weren't allowed to vote. And if they did it would be a felony with immediate deportation after a nice 10 year stretch in the slammer.

The right way to handle this is to deport the "Dreamers" along with their parents to their home countries. They can then apply for US entry legally, just like everyone else has to. The only concession I would make for them is not holding their previous illegal entry against them when they apply for a work permit or legal residency.

I was hoping that gridlock would prevent any legislation saving DACA from being passed, but apparently Democrats and Republicans have no problems holding hands when it comes to granting amnesty to illegal immigrants. That seems to be the one issue where establishment politicians can all agree to regardless of party (and it seems to be the litmus test for political respectability in the Beltway).

I mean, you have to give something, right?

No. We have given $$$BILLIONS over the years already, and they just keep coming.

10-year immigration moratorium for all new applications is what should be passed while we have the votes.

We owe ourselves and children more than we owe their children.

Life is hard. It’s even harder on the stupid.

You seem to misunderstand me. I don’t believe I am condemning, hindering or not supporting President Trump. Expecting laws to be enforced shouldn’t be the prize and doesn’t mean I can’t grasp the big picture. You can hold his hand, I’ll keep his feet to the fire.

I’ll wait for the bill. Too many on this board are “amnesty phobics” Anything and EVERYTHING is the dreaded “AMNESTY”. I can feel the HATE oozing out of my monitor. Did you ever ask yourselves, “why do I hate brown people so much?” Note: Don’t bother to throw your hate my way. I don’t read any replies. A little introspection on your part would be time better spent.

Ladies and gentlemen, let me present Exhibit A of self-righteous, politically correct virtue-signaling!

Ann Coulter believes the DACA “kids” need to be expelled first — even before MS-13. She says they’re “Mexican Antifa” and they’re more dangerous than MS-13.

And should they complain after receiving ‘legal status’ and long to be a US citizen, these ‘dreamers’ MUST take a citizenship test, which includes READING AND SPEAKING English BEFORE being given that prize of the gold ring.

Picture an entire group of potential US citizens - none of them knowing English yet attempting to follow the Judge’s orders to “repeat after me”.

No freebees for any: handouts, votes, ss cards and pensions.

US Citizens should never be forced to take a foreigner into our homes. Government would be no more than another King George.

In my opinion, “amnesty” is giving people who knowingly entered the country illegally a “short cut” way to citizenship.

The people who were brought here by their parents did not knowingly break the law. For them, I would suggest a way for them to have a legal status (not citizenship), after which they can apply, like any other immigrant, for citizenship, as long as they meet the criteria.

I do not think they should go to the head of the line. I do not think they should be given any special consideration when applying for citizenship.

As for those who willfully broke our laws and came here illegally - a specific time frame by which they have to be out of the country. Once out, they can apply like anyone else to come back in. Anyone caught here after that time frame is subject to immediate deportation with no chance to re-enter the United State in any legal manner. People who re-enter the United States illegally would be subject to prison time and then deported.

From what I have read, this is pretty much the way most Western nations handle immigration.

Laws are laws.

The second generation ones (including those brought here as children) are more likely to be La Raza activist types than their parents. Usually the first generation is all about escaping from their Third World hellholes (and perhaps milking the system while they're here), while the second generations get politicized and radicalized.

Now on top of that, propaganda from both sides is describing these glorified anchor babies as "Dreamers" and "the best and brightest" has given them even bigger egos and an even more inflated sense of entitlement.

Not to mention President Trump and the vast majority of people in both parties.

If Trump needs to allow a bunch of people to stay who are already here, working and paying taxes for the wall - yeah, I’m totally fine with that. Stamping your foot and demanding the impossible won’t get you anywhere. Trump understands that.

“describing these glorified anchor babies as ‘Dreamers’”

And the implication here is that American kids have no dreams.

I know right. ROFL!!! Hmm, bet Trump is sweating this one. After he already agreed to sign whatever they brought him on daca, a judge rules that he cannot rescind it.

Many of them are children who are neither working nor paying taxes. This means that if they stay, their parents stay too. I suppose that's just fine with you too?

Stamping your foot and demanding the impossible

How is deportation (or just denying legal status, thereby barring them from benefits and legal occupation) "impossible?"

It gets quite tiresome hearing variations on the inane argument that because we can't possibly deport all illegal immigrants, we shouldn't even bother trying. Following that asinine "logic," we shouldn't go after any criminals of any kind because so many crimes are destined to go unsolved or unpunished. Usually, what it says about the person making the argument is that they aren't really bothered by illegal immigration to begin with, and are just using a feeble excuse.

Granting legal status to the "Dreamers" is an open invitation for any and all illegal immigrants in the future. The message that it sends is that if an illegal immigrant just stays here long enough, he'll eventually be made legal. You probably recognize this as well, but aren't bothered by it either.

Well, their rhetoric fits the reality. Each of these DACA brats who goes to a college or university (helped along the way by affirmative action) takes up a slot and soaks up scholarships and financial aid $ that a better-qualified US citizen or legitimate legal resident could be using.

About 75% of them are on welfare, though perfectly fit to work. We pay for them to get free medicare, section 8 housing, free college, foodstamps.

More than half dropped out of high school. No GED.

A significant portion of them entered prison since Obama gave them a break.

But hey, go ahead and move into their neighborhoods.
