A New York Democratic assemblywoman was indicted Tuesday for allegedly defrauding government agencies out of tens of thousands of dollars, including the agency in charge of Hurricane Sandy relief.
The Department of Justice announced that 'Pamela Harris',57, a New York state assemblywoman, was charged with wire fraud, making false statements, bankruptcy fraud, witness tampering and obstructing justice.
The indictment also claims that when Harris learned that law enforcement was investigating her in 2017, she pushed witnesses to lie for her to FBI agents conducting the investigation.
“She conducted her schemes victimizing the federal and New York City governments, and then obstructed a federal investigation into her crimes while a sitting New York State Assemblywoman,” U.S. Attorney Richard Donoghue said.

If convicted, Harris faces up to 30 years in prison on the count of false statements to FEMA alone; other wire fraud charges carry up to 20 years imprisonment each.

Sorry if I’m wrong, but there are not a lot of black politicians compared to white pols, but every other day they’re being busted for corruption or stealing. Same with former mayor here in Baltimore Sheila Dixon.

Well I don’t want to suggest that there’s some sort of racial bias in our just-us system but I’d sure like to see a lot more white criminal politicians going to prison. ;-)

New York Times said....The charges suggest a striking degree of planning and elaborate attempts to cover up illegal actions. used a forged lease to draw down discretionary funds from the City Council, money that was supposed to be used to rent a studio space for a nonprofit, Instead, Ms. Harris diverted the money to her personal checking account. All told, some $35,000 was received in two separate instances using such funds, prosecutors said.
Yes...it’s a generational mindset.....this gals been at it quite awhile before she was a council women.
