I found this line particularly interesting: “...the White House portion of the special counsel investigation.” What other portion of the investigation is there? Every “portion” is aimed at Trump in some way.

He doesn’t need to claim anything to just say no. There is nothing but legal downside to sitting down in a den of liberal head hunters who want nothing more than to snag you in a lie. If he wants, Trump can cite their past record of abusing the use of charging process crimes. After they snag you, then what? Remember this is a criminal investigation after all by zealous legal gunslingers who would like nothing better than to add a president to the notches on their gun.
You do not need to be under oath to be charged with making a false official statement.
Separation of powers is not an issue here. Muller is an agent of the Administrative branch, not of the Judiciary or the Congress. He is not an Independent Counsel. That position went away when the law expired in June of '99.

There may be a rebellion, but to have bloody battles with force-on-force encounters, the officers of both armies MUST believe they are doing right.
This COULD happen again, but it is more likely that either Trump is removed legally (by the Congress), in which case the military will follow Pence unreservedly, OR the people behind the FBI treason decide to stage a coup, using officers loyal to Obama/Jarrett, and the coup fails leaving Trump securely in power.
This is all about keeping the headlines on the President, and not on the good economy, or the corrupt dossier, the corrupt Clinton machine, or the corrupt Holder, Jarrett, DOJ, FBI, Comey, Obama.
The swamp with their pals in the media are doing all they can to ride this term out.

I’ve heard that, too. But do you conclude based on “anonymous sources” only. I’m wondering why the slow reveal since Flynn’s plea? And prior to the IG doc dump next week? Is it a way to prepare the public in advance to the complexity? It has been a difficult story to follow so for people who don’t want to believe the true story, it will be even harder.
Trump’s DOJ will be investigating Mueller, so Trump will have to recuse himself.
