As with any group of family or friends, there'll always be a subset who rankle.
I've been here long enough to have run into more than a few for whom nitpicking seemed to be a pathological necessity.
Without yielding one's convictions, more peace can be had by the occasional ceding of the 'last word' as a duck sheds the rain
Think of it as gifting the annoying with an empty 'victory' while shaking one's head at their sad desperation. :-)
