INTERVIEW: Green Beret Challenging VA Senator Tim Kaine Endorsed by Rand Paul
Gateway Pundit ^ | January 6, 2018 | Cassandra Fairbanks

Nick Freitas, the liberty-minded conservative who is challenging Senator Tim Kaine in Virginia, has just been endorsed by Senator Rand Paul — who referred to the former Green Beret as “the real deal.”

The Gateway Pundit spoke to Freitas following the endorsement to find out more about where he stands on the issues.

“Nick Freitas is the real deal and I urge liberty conservatives and those who believe in the constitution and limited government to rally to his cause and campaign,” Senator Paul said in a statement provided to the Gateway Pundit on Friday. “Through his involvement in politics and as a delegate, Nick has stood firm to principals while showing he is willing to work hard and fight for what he believes in. Liberty must be defended, and Nick has proven that he is up to the task.”

Freitas told The Gateway Pundit that he is thrilled about the endorsement — not only for campaign purposes, but on a personal level as well. He stated that there are not a lot of politicians he really admires, but that Senator Paul is certainly one of them.

When asked where he stands on President Donald Trump, Freitas stated that he agrees with him “on a lot of the core areas of his policy positions” and believes that he has done a great job so far on many issues.

“First of all, I think the tax reform policy was very good. It was definitely a step in the right direction and probably the most comprehensive tax reform that we have had since the Reagan years. I’m very supportive that and of his regulatory policy,” Freitas said. “We have been fighting for a similar regulatory policy down in Virginia and Donald Trump has done a fantastic job with that.

Everything I'm hearing about Nick Freitas is sounding very impressive. Just hope we can convince the easily scammed that Kaine is part of the problem and is completely clueless about any solutions to Virginia and America's problems.

I've known Nick for years. He is a great Patriot and one of the new Constitutional Christian Republicans. I endorsed him prior to his declaration - not that buys him anything. ;-)

Senator Rand Paul could use a pal like that to help mow his lawn or just hang with him while he does it.

But he says he is “pleasantly surprised” about Trump. He also does not really embrace President Trump enthusiastically if you watch his videos.

Freitas sounds okay, but guys like this have a chance of becoming a bit like Ben Sasse, who sounded very good also as a candidate. I’m not saying for sure, but that there is a risk.

I live in Virginia and will be voting against Krazy Kaine no matter what. However, I wouldn’t get my hopes up as I believe the old Dominion has already become a lost cause. We’ve passed the tipping point of government workers and immigrants in DC suburbs who can swing any statewide election.

And, unlike African-Americans who’ve been duped and guilted by the Democrats to vote against their self-interest the last 50 years, it absolutely is in the interest of government workers to vote for the party of government. There is nothing we can offer them.

It would be a real Green Beret versus as “Red Raspberry Beret”. John Wayne versus John Wayne Gacey.

Virginia is not Blue yet. It took widespread voter fraud to win the governor’s office. So much so that they ended up with unexpected wins in several delegate seats. This was a must win for them to stem the massive bleeding and keep the youngsters from throwing the old guard out the door.

“It took widespread voter fraud to win the governor’s office”

But win it they did so any efforts to stop the fraud will be in vain. That’s why l was so disappointed when Trumps commission folded.
