Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon was just about to attack Michael Wolff for his book Fire and Fury when he decided to put a hold on the plans after President Donald Trump went all out in his criticism of his former staffer, reports CNN.
Shortly after the first excerpts of the book were released in which Bannon was quoted as saying that Trumps eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., was treasonous and unpatriotic, the former chief strategist planned to call the book another lefty hatchet job. But then Trump released his own statement saying Bannon had lost his mind and the former aide went back on his plans.
As I said during my interview with 60 Minutes and many times since, there is no basis to the Russian investigation. Its a political witch hunt orchestrated by the left, Bannons statement was allegedly going to say, according to CNNs source. Don Jr., like his father, is a great American and a patriot. And we all know Don Jr. did not knowingly meet with Russian agents. Paul Manafort is an independent actor who clearly put his own interests ahead of the campaign and all involved. Michael Wolff took my remarks about Don Jr. out of context to sell his book. Sadly, this is yet another lefty hatchet job intended to disrespect our President and his supporters.
CNN is not the first to report that Bannon was getting ready to criticize Wolffs book before Trump decided to insult his former aide.

What a sht storm Bannon served up to this Nation.
I fkng hate that guy. Top of my list.
[snip fix]
Slate is such a pile! Anything to try to put Trump in a bad light, no matter how the original “news” is twisted beyond all recognition, lies added, loaded emotive words; or just entirely made up.
I thought it impossible Bannon could ever do anything to shake my confidence in him.
The things he did that MOST pissed off The Left —those made me double over, laughing. It made me love him MORE.
Yet never before 5 days ago has my opinion of a man shifted more quickly and dramatically than with Steve Bannon.
I don’t any longer see the outline of a dignified, brainy Navy Officer —I see the mottled face of a bleery-eyed, fat drunk.
According to Ben Shapiro, Bannon allowed Wolff extensive access to the White House while he was “researching” his book. Bannon talked to Wolff for many hours himself, and allowed Wolff to stop people in the hallways and ask them questions. His frantic efforts to convince people he didn’t support Wolff’s book are not going to be successful. In a contest between Shapiro and Bannon, I’ll believe Shapiro any time.
I agree with you. Been there from the beginning though.
A lot of deep-state people hate Bannon and would like nothing more than to see him destroyed. I’m not so sure this wasn’t orchestrated to eliminate his influence, such as it was.
If true (and I’m not inclied to believe a word from slake), then this only serves to further impunes the character of bannon.
Personally this stinks like an effort to stir up trouble among her enemies.
I hear what you’re saying but I’m going to let this play out before a turn on Bannon.
Something odd about how this all went down and think Trump and Bannon could work it out for the good of the platform.
I have to agree Eddie.
Bannon really stuck it to the President and his family. I hope this author and Bannon get sued. I want to know who allowed this author into the WH and who talked to him.
Of course Slate is trash.
Of course this is #fakenews and Sloppy Steve won’t correct the record.
Mr. Bannon the disheveled is betting his book royalties will be greater than the cost of Trump’s non-disparage breach of contract suit.
Bannon is bottom of the barrel scum.
The fact is Bannon is out for Bannon and nothing else. He so desperately wanted a to be the guy telling Trump what to do.
Sounds like a rewrite of history. Bannon had more than enough time to disavow his quotes. Every hour that went by gave the media more time to attack Trump. Others had no difficulty in *promptly* denying Wolff’s attributions. Only Bannon dragged his feet—or at least in retrospect *claims* to have dragged his feet.
How convenient. Since Bannon caught so much flack, we belatedly learn that Trump’s impatience was the true villain.
Not buying it.
the teenagers with a crush on bannon incoming in 3 . . 2 . . 1 . .
Bannon is a slovenly drunk. Two things Trump abhors. I’m surprised he lasted as long as he did.
Has to be BS! Bannon knows he is in terminal trouble, as in no career AND being a pariah. At any point Bannon could have chimed in. He is not shy.
I believe Slate really trashed this author and the book the other day.
That is what I believe to be the issue I read about the other day from Slate, here. It was surprising to me, but they really went after this guy.
Others had the same take on it. “Whew, this is slate?” They couldn’t believe it either.
Bannon could clear all this up in a 10 min. statement.
He won’t.
Given the chance on Breitbart XM Patriot radio he said we’ll have to wait and see when the book comes out.
It’s out. He’s guilty.
