After more than three weeks of testimony and four days of deliberation, a New York jury convicted a Turkish banker charged in a U.S. sanctions-busting case that strained relations between the two countries.
Hakan Atilla, 47, the deputy general manager of Halkbank, was found guilty of five counts of conspiracy and bank fraud but acquitted of money laundering. The verdict is likely to bring sharp rebukes from the government of Turkish President Recep Erdogan, who was implicated during the closely watched trial.
Atilla faces up to 30 years in prison when he is sentenced by U.S. District Judge Richard Berman in April. His attorneys say they will ask Berman to set aside the verdict, and if he declines, they will appeal.

Erdogan's earlier excuse? Well, he did not ever agree to the sanctions placed upon Iran.
But, but, but these transactions were done within the US banking system. Under US law.

Right now, there’s only the conviction. The sentencing is later. My guess is that Atilla is going to ask for a meeting and agree to provide serious info on the full extent of money-laundering...to get this reduced down to a two-year sentence at some VIP prison.
This opens up dozens of other Turk banking officials, and Trump might hold the data out to the EU and suggest that he’ll give them the info if they start some trade agreement. If they say no....then he’ll let the newspapers in the EU know that the EU is a pro-Erdogan group. Either way, he wins.
Here is what Turkey is not saying, parroting Erdogan’s earlier statement:

ANKARA, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) — Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag on Thursday slammed the U.S. court verdict in a case of Turkish banker, saying it is “a case of political conspiracy.”
Turkey is a fully independent and sovereign country. No other country can adjudicate Turkey and Turkey's institutions,” Bozdag stated on his Twitter account, adding this verdict was against international law as well.

Basically, your law mean nothing to me. (Erdogan)
The one interesting factor is that over the past year...you see a lot of the money-laundering that was going on in Turkey and Saudi Arabia...suddenly becoming public. Cash flow is probably half of what it was a couple of years ago.
SA has has some internal examination. Base on illegal acts and acts aimed at killing the Crown Prince.
That attempt appears to have had some serious consequences.
Will our Left’s attempt at removing Trump be treated the same way?
Excellent news. Boldly pursue Turkish offenses against USA law, every time.
Trump’s nature is Bold. smile.
