And until Congress actually does something to compel testimony and compliance, why should anyone (private citizen or government employee) ever honor a Congressional subpoena for anything or appear at any hearing?

Well, if it was just oppo research, it is not a national security issue. If it was used as evidence for a FISA judge, we’ll figure out real quick if it was a national security problem. Go for it!
