"For these sanctuary cities that knowingly shield and harbor an illegal alien in their jail and don't allow us access, that is, in my opinion, a violation of 8-USC-1324. That's an alien smuggling statute," he said. "I have asked the Department of Justice to look at this....That's certainly an angle we're looking at."
The statute Homan cited makes it an offense for any person "to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation."
BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!

I thought the “state’s rights” argument went away after George Wallace lost the schoolhouse door fight.

Enforce existing laws and prosecute people who violate them?
Is that allowed?

How exactly is it an ;outrageous threat’ when they are not complying with federal law? Hold them SOBs accountable for their outrageous political act of declaring a ‘sanctuary’ city!

I think the mayor is typically the chief executive of a city, rather than one of its law-makers, although I know there are exceptions (City of Virginia Beach comes to mind). Perhaps
the legislators in these cities should be the targets (including mayors where appropriate).

The ACLU said Wednesday that Homan's "outrageous threat" If that's what the scumbags at the aclu think of it, then this would be a priori an outstanding policy implementation by the Administration !

I remember when that county clerk from Ky refused to issue gay marriage licenses a Federal judge threatened to hold her in contempt and have her arrested. The left didn’t have any problem wit that. Very analogous situation.

The corrupt courts would side with the sanctuary cities, while condemning cities and states which pass laws to mitigate the illegal immigration problem as “federal purview.”

That’s a nice reference, but they could just as well charge obstruction of justice or impeding a federal official.

It’s only logical. Lawbreakers should be arrested and prosecuted. That’s the way the system is supposed to work. New slogan: Make the System Work Again.

Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo told the Houston Chronicle that the federal threat smacked of an incursion against “states’ rights and local rights.”
Funny, I don’t recall Acevedo making this argument when Arizona and other states were being intimidated by Obama’s Justice Dept. from protecting themselves from the invasion of my country by people from other countries with names like Acevado.

The head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement wants the Justice Department to prosecute mayors and other political leaders in so-called "sanctuary cities" that limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities. So do I.
Imagine the Democrats get back into full power and pass a law that requires gun owners to turn in their guns, but Texas and all other Red-states declare they're "Sanctuary States" from this law. Would Democrats be happy about that?
