Trump disavows Steve Bannon: 'He not only lost his job, he lost his mind'

President Donald Trump distanced himself from his former chief strategist Steve Bannon on Wednesday, contending that "he not only lost his job" but also "lost his mind" when he left the White House.

On Wednesday, excerpts from an upcoming Michael Wolff book showed that Bannon called a June 2016 meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer "treasonous" and "unpatriotic."

This is breaking news. Please check back for updates.

Listened to most of the Jeff Kuhner Show and now Howie Carr, and they both are discussing this story as if it is completely factual, all statements attributed to Bannon and Trump’s response. Was hoping it would prove to be fake news, but nothing to refute it so far.

There are two statements in issue: Bannon's alleged statement that Trump Jr.'s meeting with the Russians was "treasonous," and Trump's statement that Bannon "lost his mind."

The first quote (Bannon's) is dubious. The only source for that is a British newspaper which says it is in a forthcoming book which quotes Bannon. So double hearsay at best. (The newspaper may be misquoting the book, and/or the book may be misquoting Bannon.) On the other hand, I haven't seen Bannon disavow the quote.

The second quote (Trump saying that Bannon "lost his mind") is real; it's been confirmed by the White House. So Trump apparently believes that Bannon said what he's alleged to have said.

I would be concerned only if it was Stephen Miller having a spat with Trump. Miller is the true brains on policy in the White House outside of President Trump. Bannon is a loose cannon, so this is not unexpected, and he’s always struck me as an unfocused drunkard capable of going off the cliff.

By the way.... you NEVER ANSWERED MY QUESTION. Where did you see anything I got from Conservative Treehouse about Bannon?

I wrote you earlier: I hadn't noticed that I said ANYTHING about The Conservative Treehouse's opinion of Steve Bannon. Where did you get that?

Well.... where did you get it?

Do we really have to take the vote away from all you women?

;-)

The statement will have to stand taller than a tweet.

Its very disturbing to those who supported Donald Trump to really change things in Washington.

What’s going on? Those RINO’S Bannon opposes will never support Trump in the Senate or the House.

Senator Mitt Romney is a notion that causes one to lose one’s lunch.

I don’t think so. Both Bannon and Trump are sharp enough to not be caught that way.

When general kelly joined the team and bannon and prebuis left the leaks stopped. Not a fan of reince but he has kept a low profile since leaving while bannon has been trying to play at being a power broker. Something not right here

I posted this on one of the other threads: My reply to a comment:

The comment:

I guess Bannon’s not our dreamboat anymore.

My reply:

Pretty much an understatement at this point! Then again, the whole “story” might be BS fake news. Keep your powder dry.

How did Bannon lose it?

1. Moore made a dumb decision to let his wife be his campaign manager adn together they ran a terrible campaign.

2. The media decided to find anyone they could with an allegation against Moore, true or not, and run with it. Moore got “Herman Cained.”

3. Trump and McConnell were supporting Luther Strange.
But Strange is a RINO who was appointed in a shady deal that looks corrupt. The unprincipled, amoral opportunist Jones would have tied that around Big Luther’s neck, and he would also have lost.

4. It was McConnell, not Bannon, who sent out smears to try to destroy Rep. Mo Brooks, a solid conservative with no such baggage that we know of (no sexual allegations, no corrupt appointment deal.) That hss zippo to do with Bannon.

I’m no fan of Bannon’s, but you can’t blame him for Alabama.

I’m not buying much of what is being peddled right now.

I’m not in a mood to dump Trump or Bannon, so this will have to clarify more on it’s own.

This writer is acknowledged as a massive liar. He’s now got a story out about Malania crying on election night, because Trump won.

This is just pure trash.
