The DNC has caught a dose of Hillaryitis, where they are so confident of gaining seats in 2018 they dismiss things like raising money and campaigning as unnecessary. Good, I hope they keep it up.

with Trump confiscating money from these foreign entities, it will get even tougher for dems to raise money.

Their base won't help, 'cause that's not the way it's supposed to happen.
The Dems aren't supposed to ask for money, they're supposed to give it away along with free phones, and SNAP cards, and other bling.
If the Hollywood virtue-signaling and white-guilt money dries up, who will take up the slack?

They always think they can fix things by just re-calibrating the “message.”
Remember George Lakoff and his “reframing” ?
Remember “put more religious references into your campaign strategy.” That resulted in a spate of speeches that contained lines about how “Jesus would be angry that we’re not doing anything about global warming” and the like.
Me ‘n Sue. That died too.

"It's a tough year for the Democratic Party to try and rebrand itself and market itself in a way that is attractive to small donors and big donors alike," she said. It doesn't matter how one re-brands and re-packages and re-markets Progressive Socialism. Most rational, thinking adults see it, recognize it no matter what it's called and will reject it at the ballot box.
Emphasis on rational, thinking adults anyway.

If Trump is so bad, the blame is on the Democrats for nominating a such a sorry candidate unable to beat him. If they were able to produce a message appealing to ALL the masses, instead of the identity politics of division, they might have a better chance.

didn’t the DNC spend something like $31 million in Alabama to defeat Moore?

They feel like the committee "forced" Clinton on them, without even considering giving Bernie Sanders a fair shot at the nomination. If Donna Brazile is correct they didn't have a choice - they were millions of dollars in debt and Hillary offered them a life ring. She who pays the piper calls the tune.
The media will ramp up its anti-Trump hysteria in the hopes of generating money for the DNC in support of the 2018 mid-terms - not much of a prediction, they already have. If they don't do any better than break even in those, the DNC is going to have to start washing cars and baking cookies.
