A man has been arrested on various charges after police found a small arsenal of guns on the top floor of the Hyatt Regency on Louisiana Street downtown, Houston police said.
Police at the hotel called for backup around 1:30 a.m. Sunday after they attempted to arrest the man for being intoxicated and trespassing. When help arrived, police noticed ammunition laying around the mans hotel room, Lt. Gordon Macintosh with Houston police said.
The man was arrested for unlawfully carrying a weapon and trespassing. When investigators looked into his room further, they located an AR-15, a shotgun, a handgun and lots of ammunition, Macintosh said.
The Hyatt is preparing its own New Years Eve celebration at the hotel with a 50,000 balloon drop at the stroke of midnight, its website said.
The mans white Chevrolet Silverado was located and towed to be searched and examined, Macintosh said.
Police are waiting to interview the man until he has sobered up, Macintosh said.
Investigators are working to learn more about this incident.
Sounds like a drunk Las Vegas wannabe copycat nut.
Great physical description of the perp..!
Or it was just a 3 gun shooter who got drunk and stupid and did not intend to kill a bunch of people. I have often had more weapons than that in my hotel room because I didn’t want to leave them in the vehicle. Does everybody need some kind of permit to do that now?
Wonder if there are any 3-gun matches scheduled in houston area.
OR - was it someone going to, or coming from, a 3-gun tournament?
One rifle, one shotgun and one handgun do not a small arsenal make.
Arsenal? I take more than that out for target practice.
Only the Libtard Press calls two long guns, a pistol, and “some” ammunition lying around an arsenal. LOL!
He was just looking for something to eat.
Damn ! Guess by that standard, I have a HUGE arsenal leaning against the wall in my closet. Wonder what they would call the one in my gun safe ? An Armory ?
>>Does everybody need some kind of permit to do that now?
As if you could get that permit! LOL.
Once the cops decide that you’re going down, you even need a permit to have a kitten or puppy because it “threatens” them. Like you’re gonna get that permit either!
Whew, the media in Houston doesnt have to try and hide a massacre and make like it never happened. Its so exhausting to make huge attacks just disappear from view.
The only thing we need to know is that he had a “white Chevrolet Silverado”...
The range? I’ve got that many out and stacked in the corner five feet from my bed: Mossberg 12 gauge, Ruger 5.56 and Savage .308. Not including pistols. Zombies aren’t going to be handing out any mulligans ....
(Sometimes I think everyone not posting on FR must be a yuuuge poosey, bugman or soyboy.)
Is there a law against having these guns in his hotel room?
While not what most people check into the Hyatt with, that is a standard load out for a guy that likes to be prepared to handle any situation that might come up while driving the streets of Texas.
He might not have wanted to leave them in his car for fear they might get stolen.
The Vegas shooter had DOZENS of rifles, etc.
Did they find a prayer rug or an ISIS flag?
