Oh, wait! On July 27, 2016 Donald Trump actually called on the Russians to do exactly that in a public statement which was widely disseminated along multiple news channels. He said, "Russia, if youre listening, I hope youre able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing, during a news conference.
This is not, and was not, a crime. What would be a crime would have been to allow the American people to go to the polls in November 2016 without having critical information about one of teh candidates.
