I certainly hope Steve Bannon learned something in Alabama.

Republican primary voters need to learn something. I guess after Sharron Angle, Todd Akin, Richard Mourdock, and Christine O'Donnell, they thought the fifth time would be the charm with Roy Moore.

No more fringe evangelicals at the statewide level. Let them run for House seats in those districts with a church on every corner. If they can't win in Alabama, they're not going to win anywhere.

Steve Bannon is the only threat to the Establishment Republican candidates. The primaries are the key. NO MORE RINOs!

PS: You can't blame Moore's loss on Bannon. Nice try globalist Republican hacks....

roy moore stabbed roy moore in the back. alabama republicans let steve bannon talk them into having a huge temper tantrum, and specifically picked out of the primary field the one guy that could conceivably lose that election.

but don't blame everyone else for roy moore's failings.

nailed it. and it bears mentioning that if we had held those seats, we wouldn't have gotten our health care hijacked in the first place.

people don't seem to understand that doing something stupid in the primaries has huge consequences.

You aren't even reading what I've posted.

The "feelings" of the voters are all that matters. If they didn't trust Roy Moore to do the job, then he obviously botched the campaign.

He didn't work hard for it. Moore thought he had it in the bag. Overconfidence is a harsh reminder of our arrogance. He got reminded that we all have to work hard for important things in life. Now we have Jones for 4 years. 😵

I don't blame Bannon for Moore's loss, but Moore's loss surely makes me question Bannon's political sensibilities.

The one disastrous angle to Moore's candidacy was his insistence that he wouldn't support Mitch McConnell as Senate Majority Leader. That would be a fine approach if there was a contested race among two or more U.S. Senators vying for that post, but the only opposition to McConnell in that role comes from outside the U.S. Senate (from people like Bannon, for example). There is no movement among any Republican Senators to replace McConnell as the majority leader.

So who exactly was Roy Moore going to support for that post? Chuck Schumer?

Maybe there should be, ya think? McConnell is a Establishment a$$wipe and I hate his obstructionists guts.

Maybe there should be, ya think?

Sure. But there isn't. So standing up and claiming you're not going to support the guy is like picking the Cleveland Brown to win the Super Bowl next month after they just finished the season with an 0-16 record.

McConnell is a Establishment a$$wipe and I hate his obstructionists guts.

Great. Now you and Roy Moore can spend all your time commiserating about McConnell help Moore plot a comeback in Alabama politics.

What a dick. You are are an Establishment suck ass. Very disappointing to see your type here.

Just so you know Trump isn't going to "evolve" into a moderate globalist Free Traitor™ RINO. Ha ha.

Roy Moore lost because he had even less political skill than you have class ... and that is really saying a lot.

If we’re talking about unbelievers, feelings are all that matters.

If we’re talking about professing Christians, feelings don’t matter at all. Only loving the things God loves and hating what He hates matters, to Christians.

And that’s the problem. We’ve got people who put their own feelings before anything to do with God. What I’m saying is they need to examine their hearts, because they are not what they claim to be.

And if they truly care about draining the swamp, or of protecting life - be they Christians or not - then they are fools to let their feelings persuade them to do the EXACT OPPOSITE of what is needed for those goals.

It’s disappointing - and sick - that so many allowed their feelings to be manipulated by the likes of Gloria Allred and the deep-state-media cabal. When politics is all about serving the feelings of the squishes, it has nothing to do with truth, life, justice, or any of the moral constants that are truly beyond emotional manipulation.

Do we really want to choose our governance based on which prostitute gives us the greatest emotional massage? You’re saying if Roy Moore didn’t emotionally massage the Trump voters well enough then he botched things. I’m saying that philosophy, right there, IS WHAT STINKS in America and is HOW WE GOT WHERE WE ARE. You are giving the “conventional political wisdom” and I’m saying it is thinly-veiled prostitution and should have NOTHING to do with how Christians make their decisions.

No, I'm not.

I'm saying Moore botched things because he gave his constituents a lot of reasons not to trust him. It was not a case of him "emotionally massaging" anyone.

I hate to break this to you, but as time goes on you're likely to find that a Christian world view is completely incompatible with democratic governance -- for these reasons among others. In the immortal words of the (Jewish) country music icon and wacky social critic Kinky Friedman: "At the end of the day, the crowd always chooses Barabbas."

You said, “a Christian world view is completely incompatible with democratic governance”

Wow. That is very revealing, and explains why you come across as trollish to those who are fighting to save America from the post-modern Hell-hole it has fast become.

The Constitution is designed so that justice will happen even if the whole crowd sides with Barabbas. That’s exactly the battle that we are fighting, and why the swamp needs to be drained. Murder shouldn’t be allowable just because the whole crowd chooses Barabbas. Without the bedrock principles laid out in Scripture, such as the sanctity of human life, the right of ownership, the binding nature of truth, etc.... the Declaration of Independence and US Constitution have no leg to stand on. It’s all just the masses voting the inconvenient off the legal island. The swamp rules.

I hear you saying that the swamp HAS to rule. That Christianity has no place in American governance. That our destiny as a nation is Hell.

That is very, very revealing, and makes it painfully obvious why you and others like you don’t especially care for Roy Moore.

He was winning big in the polls until the allegations. Half a million Trump voters sat home or crossed over. The allegations doomed him.

The reality is Trump was correct in his endorsement.

The Constitution is designed so that justice will happen even if the whole crowd sides with Barabbas.

Then what difference does it make if Roy Moore was elected to the U.S. Senate?

I think Moore would have been better off as a Federal judge than as a U.S. Senator. He demonstrated that he is completely ill-equipped to serve in a legislative role, and could have done far more harm than good when it came to standing up for the founding principles of this country and the immutable truths of Christianity in a legislative body.

If I had approached the 2016 election with the same sanctimonious attitude I see from you (and others) on threads like this, I never would have voted for Donald Trump. When you are defending civilization you don't always have the luxury of supporting the upright, Christian man. Sometimes you need a pack of savage, wild animals on your side.

I voted for Donald Trump.

To sit it out and allow a baby-killer to have the reins of our government would have been unthinkable.

Apparently that didn’t stop the “good, upstanding” people of Alabama.

You’ve already said that Christianity is incompatible with democracy. That says it all. I’m not interested in hearing any more from you.
