Interesting situation. He lived in Tijuana Beach, as we called it when I was a girl in Chula Vista, but he was vacationing in Ixtapa, in Guerrero, heart of the drug war. You would think a resident of Mexico would be smarter than that.
I have friends from Acapulco (also in Guerrero) and from Michoacan, and they wouldn’t go back for anything.

Imperial Beach is a few miles north of the border of Mexico. In terms of actual distance, it would be a rather short commute.

Unfortunate.
When we went down to Mexico, we traveled in squad strength and carried more than our military IDs.

What kind of fool even goes down their anymore? I have lived 100 miles from the TJ boarder for all of my 59 years. I have crossed that boarder exactly four times and not once in the last 35 years. And yet I still feel dirty and that I have dodged a bullet.
Cruise lines don’t even go to some ports of Call anymore, the ones that they do, stay in town!!!!!

Whoever did this should try and get across the border into California so he can get a pardon from Gov. Moonbeam.

Why is he concerned with how much something costs when he votes for higher taxes?

That is an absolute fact. During WWII, Mexico was neutral but they allowed Third Reich agents full access to the country. During the Cold War, the Soviets had their largest embassy in Mexico City. The Soviets had a large contingent of spies that operated out of Mexico City. They have never been our friends. That's because Mexico's ruling class has always been on the take and can be bought for a few lousy pesos, amigo. Hasn't changed a bit since then. Everyone from the dog catchers up are more then ready to accept your bribes. Mexico has always been a hell hole of corruption. I think we have the Spanish to thank for that.

Maybe he opted for the murder and mayhem vacation package for some real life excitement.

Blaming the Spanish assumes that the natives of the Americas weren’t corrupt in many ways before the Spanish arrived. I think that’s a dubious assumption at best.
