An American tourist was shot and killed while apparently being robbed in a resort town on Mexico’s Pacific Coast that has become popular with surfers and Hollywood stars.
Douglas Bradley was killed Thursday in the hotel zone of Ixtapa. He was on Christmas vacation in neighboring Zihuatanejo and would have turned 50 the next day.
The city of Imperial Beach in San Diego County announced Bradley’s death on Friday. He was the city’s director of finance.

Dream vacation in Mexico?! Consider that it took four hours for the police to respond, doesn’t say much for the area.
The article is rather misleading, as the guy lived in Mexico, and commuted to the US for his day job.
He chose poorly.
Over the decades I have developed the opinion that nowadays I wouldn’t go to Mexico on a dare. I was there mid 70s. It was a lot different back then.

I can’t seem to convince friends and family to stay away from Mexico.

This nation have NEVER been America’s friend! We do not have a special relationship with Mexico as we do with the UK or Israel. They are to us what NK is to SK.

At least it wasn’t the police who killed him. Here they would have killed him and said he was reaching into his waistband or some such drivel.

He was running around in Mexico at 4 AM and expected things to go well?
That is an absolute fact. During WWII, Mexico was “neutral” but they allowed Third Reich agents full access to the country. During the Cold War, the Soviets had their largest embassy in Mexico City. The Soviets had a large contingent of spies that operated out of Mexico City. They have never been our friends.
Mexico’s such a happy and carefree place to visit until it isn’t.
