The city of New York, along with Philadelphia and San Francisco, is suing the Department of Defense, seeking to fix its "broken" system for reporting service members who are disqualified from buying and owning guns. The Department of Defense is supposed to report to the FBI the names of service members convicted of crimes or dishonorably discharged from legally buying or possessing guns. The FBI maintains the national background check system for gun licensing and sales. But, the cities contend, the Department of Defense has failed to report "significant numbers of disqualifying records" to the FBI for decades.

Three sanctuary cities are suing the defense department for gun records.
If the feds were looking for an illegal immigrant suspected of smuggling guns would the cities cooperate?

The Department of Defense is supposed to report to the FBI the names of service members convicted of crimes or dishonorably discharged from legally buying or possessing guns. That sentence makes no sense.

Do they even have the right to sue (standing) since they haven’t been impacted?
To: Kid Shelleen
But they’re cool with an illegal alien shooting Kate Steinle dead.

Good question. The Kate Steinle lawsuit was dismissed. The Steinle family tried to sue San Francisco because local officials never notified ICE when Lopez-Sanchez was released from jail.

Will they sue Holder and Obuma for fast and furious? Now that was a real crime that included dead bodies and drug cartels.
