My military family says you don’t need one if you have a veterans hospital ID or retired military ID card. It’s for those that don’t have any VA ID card of any type. Lot’s of state DL’s have “Veteran” somewhere on it.

Yep - those who retired have cards with all the benefits attached - as do their spouses.....I got mine and she got hers and it’s all good.
