Not puzzling at all. Conservative GOP politicians in New Jersey have a history of getting shafted, support-wise, by both state and federal RINO parties. Can’t blame them for not wanting to get dragged through the mud when they know the GOPe will be doing half the dragging.
This isn’t puzzling. The only chance a Republican would have is if he’s convicted in a retrial. But if he’s convicted he will drop out and replaced by another Democrat who will win
Seriously. That other thread on the 11th House District and a potentially vulnerable GOP incumbent was a real eye-opener. I can't imagine why any self-respecting Republican even runs for office when you've got alleged conservatives here on FR who claim they've consistently been voting for the Democrats who run against him.
I would vote for Kean Jr.

Richard Pezzullo, the runner-up in the New Jersey Republican 2014 Senate primary, is the sole candidate currently for the GOP nomination next year...A puzzling lack implies there are none. Another bang-up job by Newsmax.
