Graham, a 69-year-old lawyer, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound last Wednesday, according to an obituary published in the Post.
His father Phil, who was publisher of the newspaper for 17 years, killed himself back in 1963.

Graham's mother Katharine then served as publisher for the next two decades.
A Steven Spielberg film starring Meryl Streep as his mother, which is based on her time as head of the newspaper, was released on December 22 - just two days before his death.
His death came six days after the film's premiere in Washington DC.

It seems to me that we are being groomed for a Tom Hanks presidential candidacy by the hero roles he is constantly being cast as, and his more frequent political statements.

The Graham family sold the Washington Post Co to Jeff Bezos for $250,000,000 in 2003. I don't think William was involved in the paper.

Add another whiff of smoke, after Mary Pinchot Meyer’s death, her dairy was taken by her sister’s husband, Ben Bradlee, later promoted by Katherine Graham to run the WAPO. Diary was taken by them before DC police had any idea it existed or might be of importance. Bradlee later admitted to taking the diary after they encountered James Angleton rifling through Mary’s apartment. Angleton was the vaunted CIA head of counter-intelligence. Cord Meyer, Mary’s husband was in CIA ops.
Mary Pinchot Meyer was murdered in October 1964, almost a year after JFK was murdered. Cui bono? Katherine Graham had an extraordinary run of luck in having her husband and his lover depart from the planet within 2 years. Marital and business threats to her just disappeared. A documentary of Meyers death included an interview of Bradlee, who was willing to mention their taking of the diary and finding Angleton but refused direct questions as to what was in the diary the Bradlees burned.

BTW, suicide among newspaper publishers in the D.C. area is not uncommon.
I hope people here knock it off with the nasty remarks. Suicides tend to generate suicides - that is, if a father commits suicide, it is very likely that his son or other children will commit suicide.
This is a long term solution to a short term problem, in most cases, but the children of suicides are primed to see it this way. None of them believe in the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come, and they think that neither their act of suicide nor their death means anything to anybody. They hate their lives and think they are just wiping them out.
But why should they hate their lives? Most were successful by any standard, financial, professional or anything else. But they still thought there was no purpose to it all, so if they hit a moment of depression or a setback in life, the suicide that had been in the back of their minds all along came to the fore.
But we’re guilty of their deaths. Christians are not reaching out to people like this, but instead we’re jeering at them. This is because Catholics have an atheist or at best deist Marxist pope, the Protestant denominations are all over the map and now appear to have mostly elderly lesbian leaders, and the Orthodox are still stuck in ethnic nationalism. We have betrayed these suicides and most of all, we have betrayed Our Lord.

In his manic states he was also babbling secrets, like JFK's affair with Mary Pinchot Meyer, so conspiracy theories developed about his suicide.
