A check of several English translations of the Bible failed to find even one instance of the phrase, "Mother of God".
Neither the Contemporary English Version nor the New Revised Standard Version, Catholic Edition have any instances of the phrase, "Mother of God. Both are on the "USCCB Approved Translations of the Sacred Scriptures for Private Use and Study by Catholics" list.
This is why I consider the “Hail Mary” prayer to be very dubious... You’re not supposed to pray to anyone but God.
Especially when they justify it as saying that she some how can ‘intercede for us’ - meaning, I guess, that she has an ‘in’ with The Big Guy, being his baby-momma and all...
